Google Launches Hands-Free Payments
Leave your phone in your pocket with Google’s new mobile payments service. Their new app, named Hands Free, allows you to simply make a purchase by saying “I want to pay with Google.”
With a combination of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, Hands Free is able to detect what store you’re located at and determine if it is compatible with this technology. To verify your identity, all the cashier needs to do is check the photo attached to your account and ask for your initials. Stores may also start using in-store cameras to identify you even before check-out.
The Hands Free app is currently available at a few McDonald’s and Papa John’s locations in the Bay Area.
