ETA Brings FinTech Innovators Together at TRANSACT Tech ATL

ETA hosted its annual TRANSACT Tech ATL event today at the Georgia Tech Student Center in Atlanta. The event broke attendance records with nearly 300 executives from financial institutions, technology companies, investment and VC firms, as well as analysts and industry consulting firms. TRANSACT Tech ATL bought together industry leaders and c-level executives that best exemplify the growth of FinTech development and education. Program topics included retail technology, investing in payments, the merchant perspective on payments, cybersecurity of the future, and the evolution of the processors.

Jeff Sloan, ETA President & Chairman and CEO, Global Payments, opened the event with a discussion of Georgia’s leadership in payments technology. With FinTech revenue totaling more than $72 billion, Georgia ranks only behind New York and California in payments technology.  And it’s no wonder: Georgia FinTech companies process over $2 trillion in purchases, supporting nearly 4 million merchants. That’s 6,000 transactions processed every second.

In a highly thought-provoking presentation, Joe Mach, President of North America for Verifone, painted a picture of the 21st century consumer. He detailed the ways in which service providers can strengthen their relationships with merchants by enabling them to create in-store experiences customers want, navigate complexity and keep up with the furious pace of ongoing consumer, technology and regulatory change.

In a session moderated by Larry Williams, President/CEO of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), leadings VCs provided an overview of technologies that are attracting investors.  Other notable panels looked at how companies can remain competitive in our current environment and the merchant perspective on the changing word of commerce.

Kim Goodman, Chief Executive Officer, Worldpay US gave the closing keynote of the day focusing on driving merchant value through ISV partnerships. Goodman discussed different business strategies that U.S. merchant acquirers are pursuing in addressing this phenomenon and how ISVs and merchant acquirers can work together to add genuine value in automating merchants’ business processes and facilitating commerce.

TRANSACT Tech ATL is the latest in ETA’s series of networking and educational events in the fast-growing technology hubs around the country including TRANSACT Tech San Francisco and TRANSACT Tech NYC.
