ETA Applauds Inclusion of Cybersecurity Information Sharing Language in Spending Bill

ETA, the global trade association for the payments technology industry, applauds House and Senate leaders for including vital cybersecurity information sharing legislation in the omnibus spending bill that is scheduled for a vote in both bodies tomorrow.

The legislation will create a legal safe harbor that would allow ETA members to voluntarily share targeted cyber threats with the government.

ETA has long supported creating a safe harbor to allow ETA members, as well as other companies, to voluntarily share information with the government about cyber-threats. The payments industry is at the forefront of protecting the electronic payments system, including the fight against cyber criminals. In this role, we can provide information that speeds up industry detection, mitigation, and response to these threats. CISA’s voluntary program protects citizens’ privacy and civil liberties while increasing the ability of the entire business world to repel cyber-attacks.

We encourage the House and Senate to pass this bill and send it to the President for his signature.
