ETA Applauds Administration’s Cybersecurity Action Plan

ETA statement on the Obama Administration’s action plan aimed at securing the nation’s critical IT infrastructure. The new national action addresses the growing threat cyber-criminals pose to our nation’s security.

ETA applauds the administration for their commitment to protecting our nation’s digital infrastructure and for working collaboratively with ETA members to ensure our payments systems remain secure and resilient. The breadth of cyber-crime and the sophistication of global criminal syndicates demand dynamic solutions like the ones proposed by President Obama.

While this plan is an important step in securing our payments systems, we know that there is more to be done to mitigate cyber-threats. Fortunately, the payments industry understands the importance of protecting systems and data, and we have a long history of developing innovative solutions to ensure privacy and security in transactions. In fact, the standards set by the payments industry to ensure customer privacy are a model of security, and a real-world example of the ability of the private sector to regulate itself. We look forward to working with the Administration and all of our government partners to enhance cybersecurity protections.Jason Oxman, ETA CEO
