Two-Thirds of Consumers Want Biometrics for Payments
ETA member-company Visa has released a survey of over 14,000 European consumers, finding that nearly 70% of consumers would like to use biometrics to authenticate electronic payments. Two-factor authentication, where biometrics were used in combination with another form of verification, received even higher marks for security, with 73% expressing support. Additionally, more than half of those surveyed said that biometrics would make transactions faster and easier than traditional payment options.
When asked about preferred biometric methodologies, more than 50% supported fingerprint payment authentication, with 15% in favor of facial recognition and 12% for voice authentication.
