ETA Statement Regarding the House Energy and Commerce Committee Hearing on Mobile Payments

Statement by Jason Oxman, CEO of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the global trade association representing the payments technology world, regarding the House Energy and Commerce Committee Hearing on Mobile Payments.

ETA applauds the House Energy and Commerce Committee for their leadership on this issue and is proud to have ETA member companies Samsung, PayPal, and MCX represent the payments industry at this hearing. The mobile payments space is dynamic and innovative, and consumers and businesses are benefitting from a range of secure, convenient, and rewarding mobile payment options in the marketplace. As mobile payments continue to grow, we hope the government continues to provide a flexible regulatory structure that supports innovation and allows mobile payments to reach its full potential. Mobile payments has the ability to promote fast, secure payments, strengthen information security, and cultivate long-lasting relationships – all of which are important goals for ETA’s members.
