Our Mission
The Pastoral Services Department believes each person is a creation of God as a result of God's perfect love. In God's eyes, each person has unique dignity and personal worth simply because he or she is a human being. Through redemptive love, God seeks to establish a personal one-to-one relationship with each of us.

In keeping with this belief, the Pastoral Services Department has as its mission that of being a visible expression of God's love for all patients, families and staff of McLeod Regional Medical Center.

The following statements further explain our beliefs and what it means to be a visible expression of God's love. We seek to convey that:

  1. God is One and is always with us in a very personal way, struggling in us and with us for our healing.
  2. God does not send illness as a punishment. We live in a world where nature is set free and has the capacity to become destructive. But God is above and beyond nature. God does not cause our suffering, but God's face may be found in our suffering.
  3. Healing from suffering encompasses more than treating one's physical and mental symptoms. Healing occurs when hurting people are helped to reevaluate themselves in light of their relationships with God, others and themselves.
  4. The process of healing happens best in the context of supportive, caring relationships where God's love, grace and forgiveness is experienced.
